This page looks at a variety of Shelbyville CCD Kentucky housing market data taken from the most recent 2019 American Community Survey census data. Figure 32 shows the difference in the number of housing units based on whether they are occupied by owners versus occupied by renters. it has the largest proportion of owner housing units at 6,286 of the total and is ranked #1. Second, it has the largest proportion of renter housing units at 4,026 of the total and is ranked #1.

Figure 33 shows the difference in the number of housing units based on whether they are occupied by owners or renters. it has one of the largest proportions of 2 units at 6% of the total and is ranked #2. The only larger place being Shelbyville with 7%. Second, it has one of the largest proportions of 3 or 4 units at 8% of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 Simpsonville (9%), and #1 Shelbyville (15%) are larger. Third, it has one of the largest proportions of mobile home at 3% of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 Pleasureville (29%), and #1 Smithfield (46%) are larger.

Figure 34 shows the median value of homes broken down by the median year that the homes were built. it has the largest proportion of value of homes built 2014 or later at $218,300 of the total and is ranked #1. Second, it has one of the largest proportions of value of homes built 2010 to 2013 at $228,700 of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 Simpsonville ($322,200), and #1 Elk Creek CDP ($337,500) are larger. Third, it has one of the largest proportions of value of homes built 2000 to 2009 at $190,300 of the total and is ranked #2. The only larger place being Elk Creek CDP with $264,300. Also, it has one of the largest proportions of value of homes built 1990 to 1999 at $162,100 of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 Simpsonville ($167,300), and #1 Elk Creek CDP ($225,300) are larger. In addition, it has one of the largest proportions of value of homes built 1980 to 1989 at $171,200 of the total and is ranked #2. The only larger place being Shelbyville with $174,700. Furthermore, it has the largest proportion of value of homes built 1970 to 1979 at $157,100 of the total and is ranked #1. Next it has one of the largest proportions of value of homes built 1960 to 1969 at $123,200 of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 Shelbyville ($125,400), and #1 Simpsonville ($151,800) are larger. Additionally, it has one of the largest proportions of value of homes built 1950 to 1959 at $136,800 of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 Eminence ($162,500), and #1 Shelbyville ($206,200) are larger. And then, it has one of the largest proportions of value of homes built 1940 to 1949 at $130,800 of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 Eminence ($141,700), and #1 Shelbyville ($159,600) are larger. Also, it has the largest proportion of value of homes built 1939 or earlier at $165,300 of the total and is ranked #1.

The next two charts show both the average household size of homeowners versus the average household size of renters. Starting with Figure 36 we see the household size of homeowners for Shelbyville CCD residents. it has a homeowner household size of 2.7 which is the third most homeowner household size of all other places in the greater Shelbyville CCD region. The place with the highest homeowner household size in the area is Shelbyville which depicts a homeowner household size of 2.8 ( only slightly larger).

Figure 39 shows the year that people who rent moved into the area. Shelbyville CCD has one of the largest proportions of renters moved in 2017 or later at 9% of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 Pleasureville (11%), and #1 Eminence (11%) are larger. Second, it has the second smallest when ranked by renters moved in 2017 or later of all the other places in the local area in order of renters moved in 2015 to 2016 at 19% of the total. Third, it has the largest proportion of renters moved in 2010 to 2014 at 49% of the total and is ranked #1. Also, it has in the center range of other places in the greater region when sorted by renters moved in 1989 or earlier at 2% of the total.

Figure 40 compares the median year that home owners moved into their home. it has a median year that a home owner moved in of 2005 which is in the middle range of other places in the metro area. Figure 41 compares the median year that renters moved into their home. Figure 44 shows the percentage of people who are living in group quarters to the total population for Shelbyville CCD residents (these may include colleges and jails but also community centers for homelessness or that require a housing choice voucher which are run by certain nonprofits or an affordable housing department.) Shelbyville CCD has the largest proportion of number of people 18 years of age and older living in group quarters at 98% of the total and is ranked #1.
