New Burnside Illinois Population Charts

According to the most recent New Burnside Illinois demographics data available from the United States Census Bureau released in the American Community Survey in December of 2020, Figure 1 New Burnside depicts it has a Population 2019 of 134 which is the second smallest in order of population of all the other places in the metro area. The city with the highest population in the area is Carrier Mills which shows a population of 1,827 ( very much bigger). Figure 3 uses the New Burnside population data for a comparison of the population growth/population change estimates from the years 2010 to 2019 and New Burnside Illinois shows a decline of 77 (36%).

The total New Burnside Illinois greater area population percent change for all areas for the years from 2010 to 2019 is shown in Figure 4 and for New Burnside shows it has a Population Change of -36.5% which is the second smallest as measured by population percent change of all the other places in the local area.

Looking at the New Burnside population density (measured as people per square mile) and providing comparisons to both the national and state average population density in Figure 5, New Burnside Illinois depicts it has 128 people per square mile which is the second smallest in order of population density of all the other places in the local area. The next demographic analysis (Figure 8) looks at large generational New Burnside population groups (and can be useful internet research for employment related research or identifying areas with retirees). Key findings in this chart includes that New Burnside Illinois has the smallest proportion of people less than 20 years of age at 2.2% of the total. Second, it has the largest proportion of people between 60 and 69 years old at 31.3% of the total and is ranked #1. The only larger city being Creal Springs with 20%. Third, it has one of the largest proportions of percent divorced at 10% of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 Stonefort (10%), and #1 Eddyville (12%) are larger. Figure 14 compares the average household size using the average number of people in a family for New Burnside households. New Burnside shows it has a Family Size of 2.5 which is less than most other places in the local area. The city with the highest average family size in the area is Stonefort which depicts an average family size of 3.3 (35.4% larger).

Figure 15 shows the overall ratio of New Burnside households for families to the total number of New Burnside households and that New Burnside depicts it has a Families of 69% which is the third most families percent of all other places in the greater New Burnside region. The city with the highest percent of people who are in a family in the area is Eddyville which depicts a families percent of 70% ( only slightly larger).

Looking at New Burnside households that are headed by a husband and wife as a percent of all families in Figure 16, New Burnside depicts it has a Married-couple family of 85% which is the second most husband and wife family percent of all the places in the greater New Burnside region. The city with the highest percent of people in a husband and wife family in the area is Crab Orchard CDP which depicts a husband and wife family percent of 85% ( about the same size). Figure 17 shows New Burnside demographics for the head of household for each place using a breakdown of married-couple, male-headed alone, and female-headed alone. New Burnside Illinois has the percentage of households less than most other places in the metro area at 15.2% of the total.

The next set of demographic data looks at the marital status for New Burnside households which is useful for internet research. Figure 28 compares the total number of single people in each area. New Burnside shows it has a Total Single People of 37% which is the smallest in order of percent of people who are single for any reason of all the other places in the local area. The city with the highest percent of people who are single for any reason in the area is Crab Orchard CDP which shows a percent single of 54% (45.7% larger). Comparing percent of people who are single for any reason to the United States average of 50%, New Burnside is approximately three-fourths the size. Also, benchmarked against the state of Illinois, percent of people who are single for any reason of 51%, New Burnside is approximately three-fourths the size.

Figure 30 compares the single people in each area broken down by never married, divorced, and widowed. New Burnside Illinois has one of the largest proportions of percent never married at 17% of the total and is ranked #2. The only larger city being Creal Springs with 20%. Second, it has one of the largest proportions of percent divorced at 10% of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 Stonefort (10%), and #1 Eddyville (12%) are larger. Second, it has the largest proportion of men who are divorced at 7% of the total and is ranked #1. Figure 32 shows the number of single women adults in each area broken out by never married, divorced and widowed. New Burnside Illinois has the largest proportion of women who have never been married at 24% of the total and is ranked #1.

Second, it has the largest proportion of single women 45 to 49 at 50% of the total and is ranked #1. Third, it has the largest proportion of single women 50 to 60 at 25% of the total and is ranked #1.
