According to the most recent Los Alamitos California demographics data available from the 2022 Census Bureau released in the American Community Survey in November of 2022, Figure 1 Los Alamitos depicts it has a Population 2021 of 11,780 which is the smallest when ranked by population of all the other places in the area. The city with the highest population in the area is Cypress which depicts a population of 50,279 (approximately 4.3 times bigger). Figure 3 uses the Los Alamitos population data for a comparison of the population growth/population change estimates from the years 2010 to 2021 and Los Alamitos California shows an increase of 331 (3%).
The total Los Alamitos California greater area population percent change for all areas for the years from 2010 to 2021 is shown in Figure 4 and for Los Alamitos shows it has a Population Change of 2.9% which is in the middle range of other places in the local area.
Looking at the Los Alamitos population density (measured as people per square mile) and providing comparisons to both the national and state average population density in Figure 5, Los Alamitos California depicts it has 2,929 people per square mile which is the second smallest when sorted by population density of all the other places in the local area. The next higher in order of population density is Cypress approximately 2.6 times bigger with population density of 7,601. The city with the highest population density in the area is Hawaiian Gardens which shows a people per square mile of 14,955 ( appreciably bigger). Figure 6 provides Los Alamitos demographics for the overall median age for all people in the region and Los Alamitos shows it has a Median Age of 38.8 which is less than most other places in the surrounding region. The city with the highest overall median age of all people in the area is Seal Beach which depicts an age of 59.3 (52.8% larger).
Figure 8 illustrates the overall diversity breakdown for Los Alamitos population and ethnicity groups in the area. (note: Hispanic/Latino is broken out separately in the next diagram and also the group denoted as Native ethnicity includes Native American, and Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander.) Los Alamitos California has the percentage of Black population in the middle range of other places in the local area at 12.9% of the total. Figure 9 shows the Los Alamitos California Hispanic (including non Hispanic whites) population household ethnicity in the region and Los Alamitos depicts it has a Hispanic or Latino of 31.0% which is the third most of all other places in the local area.

Figure 11 compares the average household size using the average number of people in a family for Los Alamitos households. Los Alamitos depicts it has a Family Size of 3.4 which is less than most other places in the surrounding region. The city with the highest average family size in the area is Hawaiian Gardens which depicts an average family size of 4.3 (26.4% larger).
Looking at Los Alamitos households that are headed by a husband and wife as a percent of all families in Figure 12, Los Alamitos depicts it has a Married-couple family of 63% which is the smallest when sorted by percent of people in a husband and wife family of all the other places in the greater region. The city with the highest percent of people in a husband and wife family in the area is Rossmoor CDP which shows a husband and wife family percent of 85% (34.1% larger).
The next section of charts provide a detailed look at mothers and baby births that occurred over the past 12 months. Figure 13 shows the rate of women aged 15 to 50 years old who have given birth. Los Alamitos shows it has a Birth Rate of 3.4% which is the third most percent of women who have given birth of all other places in the greater Los Alamitos region. The city with the highest percent of women who gave birth in the area is Hawaiian Gardens which depicts a birth rate of 9.1% (approximately 2.7 times bigger). Figure 14 shows the breakdown of the mother's age for all baby births that occurred in the last 12 months and it has the largest proportion of percent of births to mothers aged 20 to 24 at 47% of the total and is ranked #1. Second, it has one of the largest proportions of percent of births to mothers aged 30 to 34 at 18% of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 Cypress (45%), and #1 Seal Beach (100%) are larger.
The next set of demographic data looks at the marital status for Los Alamitos households which is useful for internet research. Figure 16 compares the total number of single people in each area. Los Alamitos depicts it has a Total Single People of 53% which is the third most percent single people of all other places in the greater Los Alamitos region. The city with the highest percent of people who are single for any reason in the area is Hawaiian Gardens which shows a percent single of 56% (only about 5.5% larger). Comparing percent of people who are single for any reason to the United States average of 50%, Los Alamitos is only about 5.1% larger. Also, compared with the state of California, percent of people who are single for any reason of 51%, Los Alamitos is only about 2.8% larger.
