According to the most recent Cypress California demographics data available from the 2022 Census Bureau released in the American Community Survey in November of 2022, Figure 1 Cypress depicts it has a Population 2021 of 50,279 which is the second most populous of all the places in the greater Cypress region. The city with the highest population in the area is Buena Park which depicts a population of 83,974 (67.0% larger). Figure 3 uses the Cypress population data for a comparison of the population growth/population change estimates from the years 2010 to 2021 and Cypress California indicates an increase of 2,477 (5%).
The total Cypress California greater area population percent change for all areas for the years from 2010 to 2021 is shown in Figure 4 and for Cypress shows it has a Population Change of 5.2% which is the second most of all the places in the local area.
Looking at the Cypress population density (measured as people per square mile) and providing comparisons to both the national and state average population density in Figure 5, Cypress California depicts it has 7,601 people per square mile which is the second smallest in order of population density of all the other places in the local area. The next higher in terms of population density is Rossmoor CDP about the same size with population density of 7,660. The city with the highest population density in the area is Hawaiian Gardens which shows a people per square mile of 14,955 (about twice as large). Figure 6 provides Cypress demographics for the overall median age for all people in the region and Cypress depicts it has a Median Age of 41.2 which is the third most of all other places in the surrounding region. The city with the highest overall median age of all people in the area is Rossmoor CDP which depicts an age of 47.3 (14.8% larger).
The next demographic analysis (Figure 7) looks at large generational Cypress population groups (and can be useful internet research for employment related research or identifying areas with retirees). Key findings in this chart includes that Cypress California has the largest proportion of people between 30 and 39 years old at 14.8% of the total and is ranked #1.
Figure 8 illustrates the overall diversity breakdown for Cypress population and ethnicity groups in the area. (note: Hispanic/Latino is broken out separately in the next diagram and also the group denoted as Native ethnicity includes Native American, and Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander.) Cypress California has one of the largest proportions of Black population at 38.1% of the total and is ranked #2. The only larger city being La Palma with 48.1%. Second, it has less than most other places in the local area in order of Native population at 14.0% of the total. Figure 9 shows the Cypress California Hispanic (including non Hispanic whites) population household ethnicity in the region and Cypress shows it has a Hispanic or Latino of 19.6% which is the second smallest in terms of people who are Hispanic or Latino of all the other places in the greater region.
Cypress California Families and Marital Status Charts
Figure 10 shows the detailed marriage characteristics broken down by %residents who are married, never married, single, divorced, and widowed. Cypress has the smallest proportion of never married percent at 8% of the total. Figure 11 compares the average household size using the average number of people in a family for Cypress households. Cypress shows it has a Family Size of 3.6 which is less than most other places in the metro area. The city with the highest average family size in the area is Hawaiian Gardens which depicts an average family size of 4.3 (20.6% larger).
Looking at Cypress households that are headed by a husband and wife as a percent of all families in Figure 12, Cypress depicts it has a Married-couple family of 76% which is the third most husband and wife family percent of all other places in the greater Cypress region. The city with the highest percent of people in a husband and wife family in the area is Rossmoor CDP which depicts a husband and wife family percent of 85% (10.6% larger).
The next section of charts provide a detailed look at mothers and baby births that occurred over the past 12 months. Figure 13 shows the rate of women aged 15 to 50 years old who have given birth. Cypress depicts it has a Birth Rate of 2.9% which is less than most other places in the metropolitan area. The city with the highest percent of women who gave birth in the area is Hawaiian Gardens which depicts a birth rate of 9.1% (approximately 3.1 times bigger). Figure 14 shows the breakdown of the mother's age for all baby births that occurred in the last 12 months and has the percentage of percent of births to mothers aged 20 to 24 less than most other places in the local area at 13% of the total. Second, it has the largest proportion of percent of births to mothers aged 30 to 34 at 45% of the total and is ranked #1. Third, it has one of the largest proportions of percent of births to mothers aged 40 to 44 at 8% of the total and is ranked #3. Only #2 La Palma (8%), and #1 Rossmoor CDP (68%) are larger.
The next set of demographic data looks at the marital status for Cypress households which is useful for internet research. Figure 16 compares the total number of single people in each area. Cypress depicts it has a Total Single People of 43% which is the second smallest when sorted by percent of people who are single for any reason of all the other places in the local area. The city with the highest percent of people who are single for any reason in the area is Hawaiian Gardens which depicts a percent single of 56% (28.2% larger). Comparing percent of people who are single for any reason to the United States average of 50%, Cypress is about 15.6% smaller. Also, benchmarked against the state of California, percent of people who are single for any reason of 51%, Cypress is about 18.2% smaller.

The next diagram (Figure 18) shows the year of entry that non citizens entered the United States. The year of entry can show the rate of flow at various points of time in the past for when they entered the U.S. it has one of the largest proportions of non citizens who entered the US after 2010 at 43% of the total and is ranked #2. The only larger city being Rossmoor CDP with 48%.
