Whitley township Arkansas Income Charts

This section shows the economic outlook and local economy using the most recent economic data from the 2018 Census Bureau. Starting with Figure 1 which shows the median earnings per worker. Whitley township indicates it has $41,912 median earnings which is the 2nd most of all the places in the area. The city with the highest median earnings in the area is Locke township with an earnings of $58,828 is 40.4% larger. Comparing median earnings to the United States average of $46,022, Whitley township measures about 9.8% smaller. Also, in comparison with the state of Arkansas, median earnings of $37,301, Whitley township is 12.4% larger.

In Figure 2 we see a more complete view of income which includes all members in a household using the median household income and it has $39,750 median income which is the 4th in median income out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest median income in the area is Black Oak township, Franklin County, Arkansas with an income of $65,556 is 64.9% larger. Comparing median income to the United States average of $57,652, Whitley township is approximately three-fourths the size. Also, versus the state of Arkansas, median income of $43,813, Whitley township measures about 10.2% smaller.

The next section examines a variety of different income statistics. In Figure 3 we see that it has the largest proportion of median earnings between $10,000 and $14,999 at 22.5% of the total and is ranked #1. Second, it has the largest proportion of median earnings of $100,000 or more at 10.5% of the total and is ranked #1.

Figure 5 has the Average number of hours worked in a typical work week during the year, it has 43.8 average hours which is at the top of all other placesin the area. Dividing median annual worker earnings by the average number of hours worked in a year in Figure 6 shows that it has $18.40 average hourly earnings which is the 2nd most of all the places in the area. The city with the highest average hourly earnings in the area is Mulberry township, Crawford County, Arkansas with an average hourly earnings of $18.40 is about the same size. Comparing average hourly earnings to the United States average of $22.87, Whitley township is about 24.3% smaller. Also, measured against the state of Arkansas, average hourly earnings of $18.25, Whitley township compares as about the same size.

Figure 7 examines the number of self employed people in the area based on the number of people who reported any self employment income. Whitley township illustrates it has 15.6% Self Employed which is at the top of all other placesin the area.

Turning our attention to Figure 8, the median household income by age group, has Median Income-25 to 44 years less than most other places in the area at $37,763 of the total and is ranked 3d last in the group. Second, it has the largest proportion of Median Income-45 to 64 years at $105,385 of the total and is ranked #1.

The next chart (Figure 11) shows the percentage of households that had retirement income over the last 12 months and it has 17.7% households with retirement income which is the 4th in households with retirement income out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest households with retirement income in the area is Black Oak township, Franklin County, Arkansas with a households with retirement income of 26.5% compares as 49.3% larger.

Figure 13 shows the cost of living for a variety of cost components from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Whitley township indicates it has hightest cost of 92.5 for Cost of grocery items.

Whitley township Arkansas Labor Force Charts

The next two charts look at very recent, monthly trended employment related performance using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The BLS tracks unemployment statistics for a large number of areas throughout the country on a month to month basis. However, not every location in the U.S. is tracked by the BLS so the chart will only show the closest location available (which may be the same location.) Figure 14 shows the monthly unemployment rate for the area as well as a comparison to the overall measure for the United States. It shows that from January 2010 to January 2019 the Monthly Unemployment Rate went from 8.9% to 4.0%. This represents a decrease in the Monthly Unemployment Rate of 55.1%. In Figure 15 the monthly labor force participation which are people actively looking for work are also defined as unemployed but do not include people who have given up looking for work. The participation level It indicates that from March 2010 to March 2019 the Monthly Labor Force Participation went from 40,885 to 39,368. This represents a decrease in the Monthly Labor Force Participation of 3.7%.

The next two charts look at the annual unemployment rate and is based on the American Community survey. Figure 16 shows Whitley township shows it has 1.5% unemployment rate which is the 4th in unemployment rate out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest unemployment rate in the area is Mulberry township, Crawford County, Arkansas with a rate of 4.3% measures approximately 2.9 times bigger. Figure 17 shows the labor force participation using the estimated percentage of people either working or actively looking for work. Whitley township illustrates it has 53.0% participation rate which is the 2nd most of all the places in the area.

The percentage of full-time workers are compared to the number of part-time workers in Figure 19. Whitley township points out full time employees measures markedly bigger than part time employees.

The next employment related data item is shown in Figure 21 which is the percentage of families with only a single earner. Whitley township shows it has 23.2% families with a single earner which is the 5th in families with a single earner out of 10 total in the area. The next section details information about poverty in the area. In Figure 23 the total number of people earning less than the poverty level are shown. Whitley township illustrates it has 195 total people earning less than the poverty level which is the 3d most of all other places in the area. The city with the highest total people earning less than the poverty level in the area is Mulberry township, Crawford County, Arkansas with a total people earning less than the poverty level of 536 is approximately 2.7 times bigger.

In Figure 24 the percentage of people earning less than the poverty level is shown and compared across the group of places. Whitley township shows it has 17.5% percent of people earning less than the poverty level which is the 4th in percent of people earning less than the poverty level out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest percent of people earning less than the poverty level in the area is Mulberry township, Crawford County, Arkansas with a percent of people in poverty of 26.9% measures 53.8% larger.

In Figure 25 people who are in poverty are broken out by age group. Whitley township has the largest proportion of person in poverty 35 to 54 years at 41% of the total and is ranked #1.

The next chart, Figure 26, shows the percentage of people in poverty by racial group. Whitley township has White poverty rate in the mid point of other places in the area at 17% of the total and is ranked in the middle of the group. Second, it has the largest proportion of Black poverty rate at 100% of the total and is ranked #1.

The next chart looks at the percentage of people in poverty based on their education level in Figure 28 marriage status. Whitley township has the largest proportion of college graduate and in poverty at 29% of the total and is ranked #1. Additionally, Figure 30 looks at the percentage of people who receive some form of public assistance including general assistance, temporary assistance or food stamps (i.e. SNAP.) We can see that Whitley township indicates it has 11.1% households with public assistance which is the 5th in households with public assistance out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest households with public assistance in the area is Black Oak township, Franklin County, Arkansas with a households with public assistance of 44.1% is approximately 4.0 times bigger.

Figure 31 shows the "Gini Index of Income Inequality" with a range from zero (perfect equality) to one (perfect inequality). Whitley township shows it has 46.3% the Gini Index which is the most of all placesin the area.

Whitley township Arkansas Work Commute Charts

In Figure 35 is shown a frequency distribution of the time that people leave for work. Whitley township has the largest proportion of people who leave for work between 12am to 5am at 4% of the total and is ranked #1. Second, it has the largest proportion of people who leave for work between 7am to 730am at 37% of the total and is ranked #1. Also, it has the largest proportion of people who leave for work between 8am to 830am at 16% of the total and is ranked #1. In addition, it has the largest proportion of people who leave for work between 10am to 11am at 15% of the total and is ranked #1.

The next graph in Figure 36 shows the average number of minutes that it takes for people to commute to work. Whitley township has the largest proportion of people with commute time between 40 to 44 minutes at 15% of the total and is ranked #1.

The average commute time is shown in Figure 37. Whitley township illustrates it has 31 average commute time which is the largest of all placesin the area. Figure 38 shows the difference between male versus female commuting time and Whitley township indicates average commute time in minutes for men compares as only slightly larger than average commute time in minutes for women.

The next to charts break out the median earnings for major job categories for men and women. Figure 46 shows the median earnings of men for the job categories. Whitley township shows it has hightest median earnings of $40,221 for Earnings-Production, transportation, material moving occupations.

Figure 49 shows the number of people who are self employed in incorporated businesses by industry. Whitley township shows it has hightest entrepreneurs of 76% for self employed in sales and office related businesses.

Similar to the last chart is Figure 50 which shows the number of people who are self employed but in more detailed industry categories. Whitley township indicates it has hightest entrepreneurs of 76% for self employed in wholesale trade.

Figure 52 shows the difference between the number of self employed men and self employed women. Whitley township indicates total number of self-employed men is 30.8% larger than total number of self-employed women.
