Wharton township Arkansas Income Charts

This section shows the economic outlook and local economy using the most recent economic data from the 2018 Census Bureau. Starting with Figure 1 which shows the median earnings per worker. Wharton township illustrates it has $50,385 median earnings which is the highest of all placesin the area. Comparing median earnings to the United States average of $46,022, Wharton township is 9.5% larger. Also, measured against the state of Arkansas, median earnings of $37,301, Wharton township measures 35.1% larger.

The next section examines a variety of different income statistics. In Figure 3 we see that it has the largest proportion of median earnings of less than $10,000 at 35.6% of the total and is ranked #1. Second, it has the largest proportion of median earnings between $15,000 and $19,999 at 16.3% of the total and is ranked #1. Also, it has the largest proportion of median earnings of $100,000 or more at 11.5% of the total and is ranked #1.

Figure 5 has the Average number of hours worked in a typical work week during the year, it has 39.1 average hours which is the 4th in average hours out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest average hours in the area is Marble township, Madison County, Arkansas with an average hours of 41.4 compares as only about 5.9% larger. Dividing median annual worker earnings by the average number of hours worked in a year in Figure 6 shows that it has $24.78 average hourly earnings which is more than all other placesin the area. Comparing average hourly earnings to the United States average of $22.87, Wharton township measures 8.4% larger. Also, in contrast to the state of Arkansas, average hourly earnings of $18.25, Wharton township is 35.8% larger.

Figure 7 examines the number of self employed people in the area based on the number of people who reported any self employment income. Wharton township shows it has 30.1% Self Employed which is the most of all placesin the area.

In terms of the source of where income comes from, in Figure 9 Wharton township has the largest proportion of investment and retirement income at 60.8% of the total and is ranked #1.

The next chart (Figure 11) shows the percentage of households that had retirement income over the last 12 months and it has 7.8% households with retirement income which is the 4th smallest households with retirement income of all the other places in the area. The city with the highest households with retirement income in the area is Bowen township, Madison County, Arkansas with a households with retirement income of 25.1% is approximately 3.2 times bigger.

Figure 13 shows the cost of living for a variety of cost components from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Wharton township indicates it has hightest cost of 100.6 for cost of miscellaneous items.

Wharton township Arkansas Labor Force Charts

The next two charts look at very recent, monthly trended employment related performance using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The BLS tracks unemployment statistics for a large number of areas throughout the country on a month to month basis. However, not every location in the U.S. is tracked by the BLS so the chart will only show the closest location available (which may be the same location.) Figure 14 shows the monthly unemployment rate for the area as well as a comparison to the overall measure for the United States. It shows that from January 2010 to January 2019 the Monthly Unemployment Rate went from 7.5% to 3.2%. This represents a decrease in the Monthly Unemployment Rate of 57.3%. In Figure 15 the monthly labor force participation which are people actively looking for work are also defined as unemployed but do not include people who have given up looking for work. The participation level It indicates that from March 2010 to March 2019 the Monthly Labor Force Participation went from 38,810 to 48,114. This represents an increase in the Monthly Labor Force Participation of 24.0%.

The next two charts look at the annual unemployment rate and is based on the American Community survey. Figure 16 shows Wharton township shows it has 3.7% unemployment rate which is the 3d most of all other places in the area. The city with the highest unemployment rate in the area is Kings River township, Madison County, Arkansas with a rate of 7.8% is about twice as large. Figure 17 shows the labor force participation using the estimated percentage of people either working or actively looking for work. Wharton township shows it has 38.7% participation rate which is the 6th in participation rate out of 10 total in the area.

The percentage of full-time workers are compared to the number of part-time workers in Figure 19. Wharton township indicates full time employees is approximately 2.8 times bigger than part time employees.

The next employment related data item is shown in Figure 21 which is the percentage of families with only a single earner. Wharton township shows it has 38.3% families with a single earner which is the 3d most of all other places in the area. The city with the highest families with a single earner in the area is Boston township, Madison County, Arkansas with a single earners rate of 58.9% measures 53.7% larger. The percentage of families with no one working is depicted in Figure 22. Wharton township illustrates it has 16.7% families with no one working which is the 3d most of all other places in the area. The city with the highest families with no one working in the area is Marble township, Madison County, Arkansas with a families with no worker of 35.2% is about twice as large.

The next section details information about poverty in the area. In Figure 23 the total number of people earning less than the poverty level are shown. Wharton township indicates it has 31 total people earning less than the poverty level which is the 5th in total people earning less than the poverty level out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest total people earning less than the poverty level in the area is War Eagle township with a total people earning less than the poverty level of 1,171 measures substantially bigger.

In Figure 24 the percentage of people earning less than the poverty level is shown and compared across the group of places. Wharton township shows it has 14.9% percent of people earning less than the poverty level which is the 5th in percent of people earning less than the poverty level out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest percent of people earning less than the poverty level in the area is Boston township, Madison County, Arkansas with a percent of people in poverty of 33.4% is approximately 2.2 times bigger.

In Figure 25 people who are in poverty are broken out by age group. Wharton township has the largest proportion of person in poverty 18 to 34 years at 39% of the total and is ranked #1. Second, it has the largest proportion of person in poverty 55 to 64 years at 26% of the total and is ranked #1.

Figure 29 looks at only those people who make less than the poverty level of income and breaks down there employment status. We see that Wharton township has the largest proportion of people who are in poverty and unemployed at 22.6% of the total and is ranked #1. Additionally, Figure 30 looks at the percentage of people who receive some form of public assistance including general assistance, temporary assistance or food stamps (i.e. SNAP.) We can see that Wharton township illustrates it has 13.6% households with public assistance which is the 2nd most of all the places in the area. The city with the highest households with public assistance in the area is War Eagle township with a households with public assistance of 13.7% is about the same size.

Figure 31 shows the "Gini Index of Income Inequality" with a range from zero (perfect equality) to one (perfect inequality). Wharton township illustrates it has 68.3% the Gini Index which is more than all other placesin the area.

Wharton township Arkansas Work Commute Charts

Figure 33 shows a more detailed view of how people get to work for this location and shows Wharton township has the largest proportion of people who took a taxicab, motorcycle or other at 15% of the total and is ranked #1.

In Figure 35 is shown a frequency distribution of the time that people leave for work. Wharton township has the largest proportion of people who leave for work between 6am to 630am at 31% of the total and is ranked #1. Second, it has the largest proportion of people who leave for work between 7am to 730am at 28% of the total and is ranked #1. Also, it has the largest proportion of people who leave for work between 9am to 10am at 15% of the total and is ranked #1.

The next graph in Figure 36 shows the average number of minutes that it takes for people to commute to work. Wharton township has the largest proportion of people with commute time of 90 or more minutes at 16% of the total and is ranked #1.

The average commute time is shown in Figure 37. Wharton township reveals it has 42 average commute time which is the highest of all placesin the area. Figure 38 shows the difference between male versus female commuting time and Wharton township shows average commute time in minutes for men is 47.8% larger than average commute time in minutes for women. Figure 40 shows the total number of vehicles available for transportation and Wharton township has the largest proportion of 2 vehicles available at 69% of the total and is ranked #1. Second, it has 3 vehicles available in the middle of other places in the area at 31% of the total and is ranked in the middle of the group.

In Figure 51 the average annual self employment income is shown. Wharton township shows it has $12,355 average annual self employment income which is the 5th in average annual self employment income out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest average annual self employment income in the area is Bowen township, Madison County, Arkansas with an average annual self employment income of $177,848 is very much bigger. Comparing average annual self employment income to the United States average of $36,502, Wharton township is approximately a third the size. Also, measured against the state of Arkansas, average annual self employment income of $32,820, Wharton township is approximately a third the size.
