Sugarloaf township Arkansas Income Charts

This section shows the economic outlook and local economy using the most recent economic data from the 2018 Census Bureau. Starting with Figure 1 which shows the median earnings per worker. The city with the highest average hourly earnings in the area is Hartford township with an average hourly earnings of $19.90 compares as 22.4% larger. Comparing average hourly earnings to the United States average of $22.87, Sugarloaf township compares as approximately three-fourths the size. Also, in comparison with the state of Arkansas, average hourly earnings of $18.25, Sugarloaf township is about 12.3% smaller.

Figure 7 examines the number of self employed people in the area based on the number of people who reported any self employment income. The next chart (Figure 11) shows the percentage of households that had retirement income over the last 12 months and it has 20.7% households with retirement income which is the 6th in households with retirement income out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest households with retirement income in the area is Hon township with a households with retirement income of 48.4% is approximately 2.3 times bigger.

In the next chart, Figure 12, the median family income is shown for families broken down by racial group and has Overall Family Income in the mid point of other places in the area at $43,897 of the total and is ranked in the middle of the group.

Figure 13 shows the cost of living for a variety of cost components from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Sugarloaf township shows it has hightest cost of 92.5 for Cost of grocery items.

The next two charts look at very recent, monthly trended employment related performance using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The BLS tracks unemployment statistics for a large number of areas throughout the country on a month to month basis. However, not every location in the U.S. is tracked by the BLS so the chart will only show the closest location available (which may be the same location.) Figure 14 shows the monthly unemployment rate for the area as well as a comparison to the overall measure for the United States. It illustrates that from January 2010 to January 2019 the Monthly Unemployment Rate went from 8.9% to 4.0%. This represents a decrease in the Monthly Unemployment Rate of 55.1%. In Figure 15 the monthly labor force participation which are people actively looking for work are also defined as unemployed but do not include people who have given up looking for work. The participation level It indicates that from March 2010 to March 2019 the Monthly Labor Force Participation went from 40,885 to 39,368. This represents a decrease in the Monthly Labor Force Participation of 3.7%.

The next two charts look at the annual unemployment rate and is based on the American Community survey. Figure 16 shows Sugarloaf township shows it has 0.7% unemployment rate which is the 5th in unemployment rate out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest unemployment rate in the area is Lewis township with a rate of 6.8% is considerably bigger. Figure 17 shows the labor force participation using the estimated percentage of people either working or actively looking for work. Additionally, Figure 30 looks at the percentage of people who receive some form of public assistance including general assistance, temporary assistance or food stamps (i.e. SNAP.) We can see that Sugarloaf township shows it has 6.3% households with public assistance which is the 6th in households with public assistance out of 10 total in the area. The city with the highest households with public assistance in the area is Hon township with a households with public assistance of 48.4% compares as markedly bigger.

Figure 31 shows the "Gini Index of Income Inequality" with a range from zero (perfect equality) to one (perfect inequality). Sugarloaf township illustrates it has 36.5% the Gini Index which is the 6th in the Gini Index out of 10 total in the area.
